Purpose

Your role as a Payroll Specialist is to ensure correct and timely payments and to support the wider team in process optimizations and automations. You will also be collaborating within the Global Payroll team to exchange the best practices. This role will oversee the payroll process for United States and Canada, which is approx. 1,600 employees.

The payroll specialist is responsible for administering payroll & statutory compliance. The work is focused on designing ensuring compliance with the following payroll processes including calculating gross pay amounts (e.g., salary, overtime, shift payments, tax withholdings, deductions, payroll liabilities, etc.), reconciliation of payroll records, answering questions from employees and supervising payroll matters. Additionally, the role ensures compliance and adherence to internal processes, organizational standards and vendor management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure timely and accurate payroll processing, provide technical knowledge on a range of payroll matters ensuring that the payroll service is maintained, and service levels are met
  • Performs duties that require an understanding of company policies, systems, and procedures with a strong level of customer service
  • Process multi-state and international payrolls for salaried and hourly employees and ensure the overall accuracy of employee data
  • Process and peer audit employee payroll data, payments, and hours
  • Calculate and process timecards and corrections
  • System record maintenance including new hire setup, tax form processing, timekeeping input, benefits setup, terminations, garnishments, and other functions
  • Review and respond timely to assist employees and managers with payroll issues
  • Establish and maintain corporative team working relationships
  • Maintain confidential information when required by legal and ethical standards of professionalism to ensure privacy of employee records
  • Leveraging knowledge and skills to drive operational efficiency and effectiveness improvements through use of automation of standardized

Education and Experience

  • 5+ years of experience working with US payroll; Canada payroll experience is an advantage
  • Experience with Global Payroll vendors & systems such as ADP, Workday
  • International payroll knowledge is a plus
  • Understanding and confidence in using specific systems and programs, including Microsoft office suite.
  • Exposure to a high transaction volume and multi-task work environment
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, oral, and written English communication skills required
  • Strong analytical skills with an ability to detect inconsistencies in data
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Understand how to interpret company policies and procedures
  • Maintain confidential information when required by legal and ethical standards of professionalism to ensure privacy of employee records.
